So what is the distinction between water based inks and the typical plastisol inks you find with screen printing?  For starters, plastisol inks contain no solvent whereas water based inks do.  The solvent found in water based inks dries when exposed to air for too long so it cannot be reclaimed like excess plastisol ink can.  Since plastisol is easily reused, it’s cheaper than water based inks, but the lack of solvent means it dries stiffer than water based inks.  To set a plastisol print, special chemical processes take place when dried that cure the print and make it more plastic feeling, which some people dislike.
