Custom silk screen printing is a process where blank goods are altered with prints administered through silk screens.  It is reminiscent of using stencils but it’s more involved and interesting.  A silk mesh screen is covered in an impermeable emulsion.  A film with the desired graphic is burned into the emulsion and then it is washed away in those areas where the design is.  Like a stencil the open areas will allow the printing ink to pass through.  Depending on the amount of colors in the design, several screens may need to be created to render a complete graphic.  The screens are lined up over the blank goods and laid on top while a squeegee drags colored ink over the mesh.  When the screen is lifted, all that is left behind is the image that was formed in the emulsion.  After it gets dried, the ink is set and the garment is ready to be worn.
