When interviewing Sublimation Printing Services Companies, be aware that there are generally two different types of dye sublimation processes.
The first and most common form of Sublimation Printing Services is done in a cut and sew environment. Custom patterns are used to create garments like Jerseys, Hoodies, T-Shirts and Uniforms. Those patterns are used to create fabric panels that are sublimated flat and then sewn into the finished garment. In this fashion, there is true seam to seam printing.
The second and less common, although gaining popularity, method is post sewn Sublimation Printing Services. In this type of dye sublimation process, existing garments that have already been sewn together, like T-Shirts, Pillow Cases, Hoodies etc … are placed flat, pre-ironed and then dye sublimated. This process works well, but since it is impossible to completely flatten an already sewn item, some creases will occur. When creasing occurs, dye sublimation will not occur in the fold over areas. These missed areas are generally found under the arm pits, near the seams and by the neck line.
Even the most experienced Sublimation Printing Services companies can not completely eliminate these areas where sublimation dyes can not reach.
There is a vast difference in cost and turn-around time when comparing these two methods, and unless your customer or you are a professional sports team that’s going to be seen on television, the minor nuances of post sewn sublimation printing should not be a factor in your satisfaction. The finished goods still look amazing and the fast turn around time and much lower costs are often the deciding factor in which method of Sublimation Printing Services you choose to use.
