Custom embroidered aprons are a critical component to present the professional and upscale image that most restaurants are looking for. To present a professional image for your business, a business apron is an essential element. Our company produces thousands of custom aprons for a wide variety of establishments.
Various restaurant owners agree that our embroidered aprons make our establishment look impressive.
I’m going to tell you a personal story, and maybe this is because I’m in the embroidery business … but last weekend I was at a small, upscale bistro and they definitely had “the look”. The restaurant decor was spot on, the atmosphere was right, everything about their feng shui was working for them. But there was one glaring thing that I noticed.
They had clearly spent a lot of money on branding. Their outdoor sign was appropriate and professional, their menu was properly branded and there were many internal decoration items that were simply spot on. However, all of the wait staff and servers were simply wearing black aprons. As an embroiderer this was a glaring thing to me. “What!?!? You’ve got your customer facing staff without your logo or brand message? How could this be? But it was true. A simple opportunity for branding and marketing squandered.
Of course I sent an email from my table to the owner and offered my services!
There are 4 primary types of custom embroidered aprons that restaurants typically use. They are:
Tuxedo Apron
Tuxedo aprons allow a formal look, especially for a person who is wearing a necktie or bowtie. Embroidering the company’s logo on the front of the jacket is on the owner’s left chest because the wearer’s back does not allow for it. These types of aprons tend to look best with a small, one or two color logo on the left chest. Few restaurant owners choose to use the center of these aprons for a logo. More recently, we’ve seen a lot of requests to place the logo on the bottom left corner near the servers thigh.

Bistro Aprons
Bistro aprons are very well-liked in the hospitality industry for the reason that these aprons are constructed for added protection in a professional, classic look. These aprons are available in many different colors and materials. There are also bistro aprons that have extra pockets for added convenience. The two major varieties of these aprons are apron front and back ties.
In the bistro class of apron, the most common colors are grey and black. Back of the house staff use white. Logo placement on these bistro aprons include center, left and right high or left and right low.

Waist Aprons
Bistro aprons are usually less than waist aprons, extending above the knee for greater comfort and movement. Aprons are also available in a variety of materials and styles, including cotton, polyester/cotton blends, canvas and vinyl. Embroidered waist aprons are the most economical but least common option in all of our apron sales.

Cobbler Aprons
A cobbler apron, made with pottery cloth provides complete protection for the front and back of your clothes. The front of the apron is covered with a pottery cloth for strength, durability and lasting beauty. The inside of the apron is made from cotton duck, which is an excellent fabric for absorbing stains and spills. This material is also very comfortable to wear.
Cobbler aprons are most commonly used in retail applications that are not food related. Most of the cobbler apron request that we get are from retail stores, or for events.

Where can I place the logo on my custom apron?
Large open spaces on aprons make them easy to customize with an embroidered customized logo. We embroider logos on the bar or over the heart in the front whenever possible. We would place your logo on your left chest or hip logo if you order a tuxedo or waist apron.
Generally speaking, follow these guidelines to keep your logo under four inches wide by 3 inches tall. Spans are so big on most aprons, so feel free to go larger if you’d like. Note that larger logos will likely need more stitches and cost more.
In addition to embroidery, we also offer screen printing or custom vinyl decoration on all apron styles.
