Water Based and Discharge Screen Printing
People have preferences for everything, especially when it comes to clothing. Clothing serves many different functions but what good is it if you don’t enjoy wearing it? Some people like sturdier fabrics while other enjoy soft and flowy fabrics. The garment customization world is no different. There are tons of garment decoration services because they are so many different looks and feels that designers want to achieve. Let’s take screen printing as an example; most screen printing is done with plastisol inks, largely due to its reusability and affordability. Plastisol inks have a drawback in that when they are dried the ink stiffens which can be undesirable to some people. Water Based and Discharge Screen Printing can offer your project a crisp and brilliant look.

So what if you don’t want a stiff print? If you want ultra soft printing then you want water based and discharge screen printing! Unlike plastisol inks, water based inks contain a solvent which makes them thinner and that allows them to penetrate deeper. Water based and discharge inks leave behind a soft hand to the print when they dry so they’re ideal for soft or lightweight fabrics. Water based inks are great for printing over seams too so if you want all over printing, water based inks are the way to go.
Discharge screen printing is just printing using a water based ink with an added discharge agent to remove the existing color from the garment. With discharge inks, you can tint the ink so that while it’s removing the previous color it’s also depositing the new desired color!
