Snapbacks

Snapbacks

Snapbacks first came out around the mid-1990s. These hats tend to look very similar to a standard baseball caps except for a few unique criteria, associated only with the Snapbacks.  These caps come fitted with an adjustable plastic “snap” in the back that allows the wearer to adjust the size. Snapbacks are a notable part of past and present hip-hop culture, but due to their 1990s origin, they can also be worn in a way that pays homage to the Snapbacks roots.

Snapbacks also have a flat/uncurved brim, often a two-tone color top and bottom, and a high dome-shaped top.  These Snapbacks are made with a special fabric that makes them uniquely Snapback.

Snapbacks

Vintage Snapbacks have subtle styles and logos, and the caps themselves are meant to look more fitted on your head, i.e. worn lower and on the head vs, higher and on top.  Many modern styles that are worn today are slightly larger and may have more pronounced logos or bright colors and often 280%  embroidery designs. Some modern caps even have large logos on the side of the cap. If you want a more classic Snapback look, you may want to choose a more subtle cap. For a louder, newer style, consider a louder cap.

One of the stylistic areas of wearing Snapbacks is the 3D logo decal.  Decals are placed on Snapbacks by the manufacturing company with the intention of being removed before being worn, however, a stylistic approach is to often leave the decal on the hat.  These decals are typically on top of or under the brim.  Some fashion conscious individuals will leave the price tag hanging from the Snapbacks.

You may have seen some caps out there that have designs printed or sewn on the brim, those design elements are applied during the manufacturing process and can’t be easily applied after a cap is already constructed, so unless you are interested in manufacturing custom caps from scratch, a costly proposition, the economical choice is to work with a manufacturing company like AMBRO Manufacturing to help you modify an existing cap to suit your design needs.
